Scots Cap Regular Season with 20-6 Win Over DePauw

Senior Natalie Souleyrette looks to get the ball out of their defensive zone on Saturday.

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team earned the second seed in the upcoming North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament after taking care of DePauw University 20-6 in their regular season finale on Saturday.

A couple of individuals hit a couple of milestones today as well. Senior Megan Healy broke her own single-season records for draw controls (105) and groundballs (74), and classmate Emma Lawrence broke the century mark in goals (100) for her career.

Wooster had little problem dealing with the Tigers after a quick goal from the opposition started the game. Wooster would score the next 11 goals and would never trail again after Laura Papp's goal eight minutes into the game.

Speaking of Papp, the senior scored a game-high 5 goals and dished out a game-high four assists. Lawrence and Alexa Mellis followed with three goals each, while Lawrence recorded three assists and Mellis recorded two.

Healy, Ashely Boersma and Jordan Stone each scored twice. Stone also tallied three assists in the game.

Caitlyn O'Connor, Sydney Schuster and Jenny Grossmann each found the back of the net once.

Wooster led 12-3 at halftime. They scored three goals a man-up and outshot the Tigers 32-11.

The Scots were also successful in 16-of-17 clears and won 21-of-28 draw controls. Healy had nine draw controls, while Miura Wiley recorded eight. Rose Taylor had four groundballs.

Wooster ends their historic regular season at 15-1 overall and 7-1 in the NCAC. DePauw falls to 5-11 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

The Scots will host third seeded Kenyon College at 5 p.m. Thursday. The two teams recently met on April 24 where the Scots escaped with a 15-14 win in Gambier.
