Schuster Rides Nine-Goal Outing to NCAC Weekly Honor

Syd Schuster, Wooster lacrosse The College of Wooster's Syd Schuster was an easy selection for this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week following a record-breaking performance in league action.

Schuster became the first Fighting Scot to score nine times in a game, and the senior midfielder had over half of Wooster's goals in Wednesday's 17-11 NCAC win over Allegheny College. Schuster did not score until the clock wound down to 2:54 in the opening period, but the senior more than made up for it with a four-goal second period. Schuster scored twice more in the third and netted Wooster's final two goals of the night, with the record tally coming with 3:40 remaining in the game.

Schuster followed up the nine-goal night with a seven-point afternoon in Saturday's 20-12 win over Baldwin Wallace University. On the week, Schuster scored 13 goals, won eight draw controls, passed out four assists, and scooped up four groundballs, as Wooster went 2-0 to run its record to 13-2.

Schuster is the second Scot to earn NCAC Athlete of the Week honors this season. Junior Hannah Shaw, who broke the program's single-season draw controls record in Saturday's win, was the selection on March 7.

Wooster (4-1 NCAC) is back in action on Wednesday, April 27, when the Scots host Kenyon College (11-1, 5-0 NCAC) at 7 p.m.
