Wooster Team, Six Scots Earn Academic Honors From IWLCA

2022 Wooster Women's Lacrosse Team IWLCA Academic Release

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Honor Squad status for the ninth straight year, while CC Dent, Clare Leithauser, Lillian Miller, Jill Murray, Caitlyn O'Connor, and Britta Treu qualified for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the organization on Wednesday.

Dent, a women's, gender, and sexuality studies alumna, is on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll for the second time. Dent started all 18 games this spring and finished with an 11.91 goals-against average and a 40.8 save percentage. The senior made 122 saves, including a career-high 18 in a key 17-11 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Allegheny College. Earlier in the year, Dent stopped 11 shots in a 13-12 overtime win at Oberlin College.

Leithauser, a political science major, earned second-team All-NCAC honors this spring. The defender emerged as a groundball magnet with 79, a total second in single-season program history. She logged six games with at least six groundballs, including back-to-back conference wins over Ohio Wesleyan University and Wittenberg University.

Miller, a physics alumna, is also a two-time IWLCA Academic Honor Roll qualifier. Miller was elevated to a starting role this spring and finished the year with 24 groundballs and 10 caused turnovers. Miller logged a career-high four groundballs in an overtime win against Ohio Wesleyan.

Murray, a biology and neuroscience major, earned honorable mention All-NCAC status after ranking third on the team with 51 points. Murray's 37 goals were fourth on the team, and she tied for second on the team with 14 assists. Murray opened the year with back-to-back four-goal games against Transylvania University and Otterbein University.

O'Connor, a neuroscience alumna, started all 18 games and ranked fifth on the team with 31 goals. She had back-to-back three-goal games to start the year and logged a season-high five points against Otterbein, thanks to two assists. O'Connor added a second five-point showing against Adrian College, finishing with three assists and two goals.

Treu, a communication studies major, played in all 18 games this spring. She led the team in assists at 20 and scored 16 goals. Treu logged five goals and three assists during Wooster's win over Otterbein, and she had a six-point day against Adrian with three goals and three assists.

Wooster went 13-5 this spring and earned a spot in the NCAC Tournament.

To qualify for IWLCA Academic Honor Squad status, teams must post at least a 3.2 team GPA for the academic year. IWLCA Academic Honor Roll requires a 3.5 cumulative GPA and the student-athlete must be at least a junior.
