Chantal Koechli (Greer, S.C. / Brighton – Mich.), a junior at The College of Wooster, was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team for the second season in a row for women's soccer, announced the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday. By earning first-team honors, Koechli moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-America Team® consideration.

Koechli, one of 12 players recognized on the first team, has put up career highs in every scoring category this year, as the midfielder currently has a Wooster-high 20 points on five goals and 10 assists. She leads the North Coast Athletic Conference in assists and ranks sixth in scoring (1.18 ppg), all while helping hold opponents to less than a goal per game (0.88 gpg). For her career, Koechli is now up to 34 points, including 18 assists, which puts her tied for fifth in school history in that category.

Off the playing field, Koechli is equally impressive. She has made Dean's List every semester while majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology with a minor in French. In addition, Koechli has been active with the Wooster Volunteer Network, Wooster Christian Fellowship, and Worthy Questions, and she reads to local elementary students.

The Fighting Scots' women's soccer team holds a 12-5 record and is in contention for a spot in the four-team NCAC Tournament. Wooster, currently in fifth-place in the conference, plays its regular season finale at No. 12 ranked Denison University (14-2-1, 7-0-0 NCAC) Saturday afternoon.

The honorees were selected by CoSIDA among top players with minimum 3.30 grade-point averages from the college division (NCAA Div. II and III, and NAIA) in Wooster's five-state district (Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee).
