The College of Wooster fired off 13 shots in the second half,
desperately trying to come up with a tying goal, but were unable to
do so and Ohio Wesleyan University escaped Carl Dale Memorial Field
with a key 1-0 victory in the women's soccer teams'
North Coast Athletic Conference match-up.
Ohio Wesleyan's (9-4-2, 4-0-1 NCAC) lone goal came with 13:14
remaining in the first half, as Jenny Howe knocked in a pass from
Makinzie Krebsbach. The Battling Bishops finished the half with a
7-1 shot advantage.
In the second, Wooster (9-5, 1-3 NCAC) was constantly on the
attack, ending up with a plus 10 margin in shots (13-3) as well as
a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Defensively, the Scots' Alix Hoffman made four saves, while
her counterpart, Laura VanHoey, was credited with six in the
shutout.
Wooster, which is now facing a major uphill climb in its chase for
a spot in the four-team NCAC tourney, will travel to Oberlin
College (3-10-1, 0-5-0 NCAC) Wednesday at 4 p.m.
