WOOSTER, Ohio - The College of Wooster's Sara Dresser scored in
the 57th minute and its defense shutdown visiting Marietta College
for all 90 minutes, as the Fighting Scots earned a 1-0 victory
Wednesday afternoon at Carl Dale Memorial Field, marking their
fifth win in five tries in the all-time series with the
Pioneers.
Dresser, a senior midfielder, found the back of the Marietta net
for the lone goal when she used her head off a free kick from
classmate Kristin McCall. The tally marked Dresser's second goal
this season and the sixth of her career, while the helper was
McCall's first this fall, and third of her career.
Overall, the Scots (4-0) dictated most of the action, holding a
27-5 shot advantage, and a decisive 10-2 mark in corner kicks.
In goal, Alix Hoffman only needed to make three saves to preserve
Wooster's win and the first shutout of her career, while Sydney
Collins kept Marietta (0-4) in it with four saves.
The Scots continue their homestand Saturday afternoon when they
square off against Bethany (W.Va.) College (2-2) at 1 p.m.
