The College of Wooster women's soccer team scored two
goals 11 minutes apart near the conclusion of the first half,
spurring the Fighting Scots on to a 2-0 triumph at Oberlin College
Wednesday afternoon in North Coast Athletic Conference action.
Wooster (10-5-1, 2-3-0 NCAC), which has now won 10 games in a
season 10 of the last 11 years, tallied goals from two different
players. Kate Kiley and freshman Nicole Himebaugh provided the only
offense would need, finding the back of the net in the 34th and
45th minutes, respectively. For Kiley, a senior, it marked her
team-best seventh goal of the season, while it was
Himebaugh's second of her young career.
Defensively, the Scots posted their third shutout of 2008, with
help from sophomore Alix Hoffman in 74:58 of playing time along
with senior Sara Flannelly in 15:02, as neither one had to record a
save. The Scots managed 27 shots, while the Yeowomen fired just
five would-be scoring attempts.
Wooster is next at Kenyon College (5-8-1, 2-2-1 NCAC) Saturday
afternoon for a match scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Gambier.
