Scots Remain Unbeaten With 3-1 Victory at Bethany

Three different College of Wooster women's soccer players scored goals, as the balanced attack paved the way for a 3-1 triumph at Bethany College in a Saturday night clash between the two schools.

Wooster (4-0-1), which won its first six matches a season ago and is now unbeaten through five this year, lit the scoreboard first when Paige Piper headed in a corner kick from Chantal Koechli in the 19th minute. Koechli assisted on the match's second goal, too, with Erin Davison finding the back of the net after receiving the pass. With 1:05 remaining in the opening half at that point, the Fighting Scots figured to go into the break with a 2-0 margin, but Bethany (3-2) broke through with a score just 23 seconds later.

It remained 2-1 deep into the second half. Then, Mary Riney sealed the win for Wooster with a goal, assisted by Davison.

Overall, the teams were nearly even on shots, with the Scots edging the Bison 13-12. The difference statistically came in goal where Michele Ring produced four saves, compared to Bethany's three while yielding the three goals.

Wooster's next game will be at Mt. Union College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
