Scots Rally Late, Tie Walsh in Double OT

The College of Wooster and Walsh University each scored goals near the end of regulation to snap a 74-minute scoreless stretch, but the game would remain deadlocked and end in a 1-1 double overtime tie Tuesday at North Canton, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots only allowed the Cavaliers to take four shots in the match, but Abbie Sullivan made hers count with a go-ahead goal at 74:26 on an assist by Amanda Patrick. Wooster freshman goalkeeper Michelle Ring, who would play the entire 110-minutes, had a shutout going until that point and tallied two saves in the loss.

Junior Liz Mott, who led the team with nine goals last season, got the Scots back into the match at the 79:11 mark when she blasted in a goal that was set up by a Maggie Roberts' assist. Roberts was one of four first-year players who saw playing time in the match. Neither team would score again marking the fourth time in history these teams have ended a contest against each other in a tie.

The Scots will travel to Marietta, Ohio, this weekend to take part in the Marietta Classic. Wooster's first game will be on Saturday against St. Vincent College at 2 p.m.
