Double OT Not Enough to Break Scoreless Tie at Allegheny

In a match featuring two regionally ranked squads, The College of Wooster women's soccer team and North Coast Athletic Conference foe Allegheny College battled to a scoreless tie on Wednesday night in Meadville, Pa.

The Fighting Scots (8-1-4, 0-1-1 NCAC), who came into the match ranked sixth in the Great Lakes Region, had trouble generating shots against the No. 9 ranked Gators (8-3-1, 1-0-1 NCAC) early in the contest. Wooster would control the overtime periods, though, earning three corner kicks and taking three high quality shots to no avail.

Wooster was outshot 4-1 in the first half, but would end the game leading Allegheny 7-6 in shot attempts, including two by Nora Simon, and one apiece by Liz Mott and Britta Harman in the second overtime. Allegheny's goalkeeper Emily Karr tallied four saves, including two critical stops in the extra periods, while Wooster's Michele Ring recorded three saves in the draw.

The Scots will look to score their first conference victory of the season this Saturday when they host Earlham College (8-3-0, 1-0-0 NCAC) on Carl Dale Field at 1 p.m.
