Wooster Rallies Late, But Falls to OWU 2-1

The College of Wooster women's soccer team cut a 2-0 deficit in half with 7:42 remaining in its North Coast Athletic Conference affair at Ohio Wesleyan University Saturday, but the Battling Bishops hung on for a 2-1 decision.

The evenly-played match saw Ohio Wesleyan (7-6-2, 3-2-0 NCAC) holding a 2-0 lead late in regulation when Wooster (8-3-4, 0-3-1 NCAC) put on a furious attack. In the 79th minute, the Fighting Scots attempted a pair of shots to no avail, but then in the 83rd, Kelsey Peters worked her way inside the penalty area and converted off a pass from Chantal Koechli. For Peters, a sophomore who primarily plays at defender, it marked her second goal this fall and the third of her career.

Wooster continued to pressure the Battling Bishops, recording four more shots during the final 7:42, but the hosts stayed strong and finished off the win.

Defensively for the Scots, Michele Ring collected five saves.

On Wednesday afternoon, Oberlin College (4-9-2, 0-5-0 NCAC) visits Wooster at 4 p.m.
