Kalafatis Kicks Off Career as NCAC Player of the Week

The College of Wooster women's soccer team won its first two games of the season, and freshman forward Kathleen Kalafatis' knack for finding the back of the net not only sparked the Fighting Scots, but it also earned her North Coast Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.

Just 10:18 into her collegiate career, Kalafatis scored her first goal to give Wooster a 1-0 lead over the College of Mount St. Joseph, which set the table for an eventual 5-0 victory in the Fighting Scots' home-opener.

Then in a 2-1 win at Washington & Jefferson College on Sunday night, Kalafatis again put Wooster in front 1-0, the time by pushing it past the goalkeeper from about 10 yards out in the 24th minute.

Wooster is No. 6 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Great Lakes Region rankings, and will compete in the Marietta College Classic this weekend.
