Facing its stiffest competition to date, The College of Wooster was held off the scoreboard in a 2-0 setback to Carnegie Mellon University, which is ranked No. 16 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, in a non-conference women's soccer match-up Wednesday evening at Pittsburgh, Pa.

The Scots' (4-3) defense was busy in the first half, as the nationally-ranked Tartans (4-1-1) controlled possession and outshot Wooster six to none, but goalkeeper Elizabeth Clark made two saves to keep the score knotted at zero at the halftime break.

The Tartans broke the game open during a 5:28 spurt early in the second half, though, scoring twice on nearly identical plays, as Brittany Couture served up a pair of corner kicks that were both headed in by Carson Quiros to give Carnegie Mellon a 2-0 lead it would not relinquish.

Wooster did fire off three shots in the second stanza, one which came off the foot of Katherine Tuttle in the 72nd-minute, but was saved by Katie Liston.

Next, the Scots host Transylvania University (3-2) Saturday at 2 p.m.
