WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster and John Carroll University traded goals during a 3:06 spurt early in the second half, but then neither team could net a game-winner, as the score remained knotted 1-1 through two overtime periods, resulting in a tie between northeast Ohio foes Wednesday afternoon at Carl Dale Field.

The game was remarkably competitive, with both Wooster (4-4-1) and John Carroll (3-3-3) recording identical totals in shot attempts (19) and corner kicks (7), and both teams' goals coming just moments apart.

The Blue Streaks got on the scoreboard at 52:38, but the Fighting Scots responded with the equalizer just over three minutes later during an exciting sequence. First, Kathleen Kalafatis fired off a shot that smashed into the crossbar, and then after a scrum, the ball trickled out to around the edge of the goal box, where Kyrsten Kamlowsky booted a shot past the goalkeeper to tie the game at one apiece.

Wooster had several strong chances to add another goal, specifically in the closing moments of the second half, when Kalafatis had another shot go off the crossbar, and Kennedy Payne got underneath the ball and headed it towards the goal, but it was hauled in by the 'keeper. The Scots outshot the Blue Streaks 4-1 in overtime, with two coming off the foot of Crystal Chavez, but nothing found the back of the net.

Elizabeth Clark played the entire game in goal and made a season-high seven saves.

Wooster will begin the North Coast Athletic Conference portion of its schedule Saturday when it visits Ohio Wesleyan University (2-5-0) at 5 p.m.
