An early lead for Defiance College didn't hold up long, as The College of Wooster scored two quick goals less than a minute apart, and then added some insurance late, on its way to a 3-1 neutral-site victory on Saturday afternoon at Marietta, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots (3-1) limited the Yellow Jackets (2-2) to just four shot attempts on the day, but their first one found the mark, as Lindsay Bubnick delivered a deep shot from just beyond the goal box that beat the 'keeper and put her team up 1-0 at the 10:41 mark.

The momentum shifted in Wooster's direction shortly after, when Jessica Friesen took a pass from Katherine Tuttle and booted it into the upper-left corner of the net to tie the game at one apiece.

Just :54 seconds later, Wooster lit the scoreboard once again, as Crystal Chavez sent a cross into the box and Tuttle headed it in to put the Scots up 2-1 in the 19th minute.

Wooster kept knocking on the door, accumulating 24 shot attempts in all, including its third goal of the game off the foot of newcomer Maggie Sestito midway through the second half which put the game away. It marked Sestito's first collegiate goal.

The Scots' defense kept Defiance away from goalkeeper Carly Eppler (2 saves), while her counterpart June Delgreco was under constant pressure and racked up 10 saves in a losing effort.

Next up, the Scots play against Marietta College tomorrow at 1 p.m.
