The College of Wooster and Kenyon College combined to score seven times, with each team going goal-for-goal throughout the contest, but the Ladies netted the last one to take down the Fighting Scots by a 4-3 count Saturday afternoon in a North Coast Athletic Conference meeting at Gambier, Ohio.

Every time Kenyon (6-6-1, 3-0-0 NCAC) went ahead, the Scots (7-5-1, 1-1-1 NCAC) had the answer, as they tied the game on three occasions with three different types of goals.

The Ladies scored just 5:10 into the action off a corner kick, and went on to hold their longest lead of the game, about 25 minutes, until Wooster responded to put the shootout in motion. It was Carly Joliat, who drilled a free kick into the box, where Lauren Hancher converted the opportunity to make it 1-1 in the 31st minute.

Kenyon tacked on one more before halftime to earn a 2-1 advantage at intermission, but then it was Wooster's turn at the start the second stanza. This time, Jessica Friesen booted a shot into the upper right corner of the net, assisted by Rachael Davis, to tie the match at 2-2.

Moments later, Kenyon went back ahead, 3-2, when Becca Romaine scored her second tally of the day on a breakaway. That lead didn't hold up long, though, as Hancher converted a penalty kick at the 69:50 mark to knot the score once again, 3-3. Hancher's goal was the fifth for her this fall, and gave Wooster three unique scoring plays (free kick, traditional goal, penalty kick).

Ultimately, Kenyon scored its own free-kick goal with about six minutes remaining in regulation and Wooster didn't have time to retaliate, although Joliat did blast a shot wide in the closing ticks.

The offense was the story in this one, as 30 shots were taken in all, but only five saves were made by the goalkeepers.

Wooster will look to string some wins together, beginning with a home match against Hiram College (5-7-1, 0-2-1 NCAC) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
