WOOSTER, Ohio – Carly Joliat was a difference-maker in The College of Wooster's 2-0 win over Hiram College, as the junior defender took both a free kick and corner kick that resulted in goals to lead the Fighting Scots to a decisive North Coast Athletic Conference victory Tuesday at Carl Dale Field.

The Scots (8-5-1, 2-1-1 NCAC) dominated possession throughout the game and held a 15-8 shot advantage, but it was Joliat's placement on some key kicks that got them past the Terriers (5-8-1, 0-3-1 NCAC).

About midway through the first half, Joliat sent a free kick into the box from about 35 yards out, and found her favorite target – Lauren Hancher – who used a header to redirect the ball past the goalkeeper and put Wooster ahead 1-0.

Joliat helped give the Scots their 2-0 cushion in the 75th minute, when she delivered a corner kick towards Hancher on the far post, prompting a Hiram defender to jump in front and inadvertently knock the ball into her net for an own goal.

The Scots' next best scoring opportunity also came off the foot of Joliat, as her corner kick attempt early in the second half resulted in a strong header from Katherine Tuttle that was saved by the 'keeper.

Wooster's Elizabeth Clark tied a season-high in saves (5) while recording her first shutout of the year.

Next, the Scots host Denison University (8-4, 2-1 NCAC) on Saturday in an important NCAC match-up. The game gets underway at 1 p.m.
