The College of Wooster women's soccer team rolled past Oberlin College on Wednesday night and right back into the thick of the race for a spot in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, as its 2-0 shutout on the road moved the Fighting Scots into fourth-place in the league standings.

Wooster (9-6-1, 3-2-1 NCAC) now has 10 points (3 for a win, 1 for a tie) and two games remaining, with the top-four regular season finishers qualifying for the tournament.

In the 11th minute of Wednesday's game at Oberlin (9-6-0, 2-3-0 NCAC), the Scots used a quality save from 'keeper Elizabeth Clark during a corner kick play to keep things scoreless.

Then, Wooster's offense went on the attack, tallying six shots and four corners the next 18-plus minutes, and on the fourth corner, Carly Joliat lofted a ball to Lauren Hancher, who headed it in for a 1-0 lead. It was Hancher's sixth goal this season and Joliat's fourth assist.

The Scots added another score before the halftime break, this time coming from Kennedy Payne in the 40th minute when she took advantage of a defender's misplay and touched the ball into the net, marking the sophomore's second goal of the fall.

The two-goal margin was plenty for the Wooster defense to work with, as it limited the Yeowomen to just two shots throughout the second half. Clark was officially credited with one save during the shutout.

The Scots welcome rival and fifth-place Wittenberg University (7-5-1, 3-2-0 NCAC) to Carl Dale Field for a game with significant postseason implications on Saturday at 1 p.m.
