After two significant delays – one weather-related and one for the lights going out at Penn State Behrend's facility – The College of Wooster and Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer teams finished up around midnight on Friday, settling for a 0-0 tie at the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament in Erie, Pa.

Right before and right after what was a two-hour lightning delay, Wooster (1-0-0) had high-quality scoring opportunities. In the 27th minute, Baldwin Wallace (1-0-1) was unable to clear out a corner kick from its box and senior defender Rachael Davis blasted a shot on goal, but Emily Tallmadge was there for the save.

Shortly after, there was a lightning strike and the two teams did not take the field again until about 10:30. In the 34th minute of play, the Fighting Scots' Lauren Hancher drove a free kick to the right corner, forcing Tallmadge into a diving stop.

The game remained scoreless, and complicating matters, the field's lights went dark at 11:00, when there was still 31:37 left in the second half. Penn State Behrend was eventually able to turn them back on.

The Yellow Jackets had the better chances the rest of regulation, and Wooster 'keeper Carly Eppler responded with three of her four saves on the game.

With midnight approaching, the officials called for a 15-minute instead of the normal two 10-minute periods. The Scots' Harper Jones was the lone player to record a shot during the extra session.

Wooster will play No. 7 ranked Carnegie Mellon University (1-0) on Saturday at the tourney.
