For the second time in as many days, a College of Wooster women's soccer match featured multiple delays and was called short, this time with No. 7 ranked Carnegie Mellon University prevailing 3-0 Saturday to win Penn State Behrend's Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament in Erie, Pa.
After enduring two significant delays and playing until midnight on Friday, Wooster (1-1-1) was right back on the field late Saturday afternoon.
Megan Bartoshuk of Carnegie Mellon (2-0) scored a pair of goals six minutes apart around the midway point of the first half.
The Fighting Scots' defense, keyed by Carly Eppler, kept the deficit manageable, as the junior goalie wound up with a career-high 11 saves. However, a third Tartan score during the 57th minute just about put the game out of reach.
Right before the second lightning delay, which ended the game with 8:16 remaining in regulation, Elizabeth Clark replaced Eppler and grabbed a save during her short stint.
Wooster continues it season-opening five-match road trip on Tuesday at Muskingum University (0-2).
