Newcomers Strike Three Times as Wooster Blanks Muskingum

 Sadie Norton
 Harper Jones

For the second Tuesday in a row The College of Wooster women's soccer team posted a 3-0 shutout on the road. The Fighting Scots improved to 2-1-1 with their win over Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio.

Wooster received a high level of production from its first-years, as Scot rookies scored all three goals in the contest. Sadie Norton, who had assisted on two of the goals in last week Tuesday's match, netted her first collegiate goal in the 22nd minute off the feed from fellow first-year Devin Frisby.

Harper Jones continued her hot start with the other two scores on the night, giving the Frankfort, Ky. native a team-leading three tallies on the young season. The first, in the 64th minute, was headed in off of senior Carly Joliat's corner kick. The duo would succeed again five minutes later with Jones burying a second header off a double assist from Joliat and senior Lauren Hancher.

Wooster finished with a 20-8 edge in shots and a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks. The Fighting Scots established offensive pressure from the get-go with Hancher recording the match's first shot just 49 seconds into the contest.

The defensive unit led by the likes of Joliat, senior defender Rachael Davis, senior defender Kelsey Clark, and others held the Fighting Muskies (0-3) to zero shots on goal. Junior Carly Eppler picked up her second win of the season in goal.

Wooster makes its long-awaited home debut on Sunday, Sept. 13 when the Scots take on Saint Vincent College (1-2) at 2 p.m.
