Kalafatis Nets Two as Wooster Records Third Shutout of Season

The College of Wooster women's soccer team posted its second-straight, and third shutout overall, and scored a season-high four goals for a 4-0 victory against Earlham College on Saturday afternoon in Richmond, Ind.

Junior forward Kathleen Kalafatis started Wooster's (3-1-1) goal parade with her first of two strikes in the eighth minute. It marked the Shaker Hts., Ohio native's initial tally of the season. She would net another in the 75th minute for the Scots' fourth goal of the game.

Senior midfielder Lauren Hancher pushed the lead to two in the 28th minute. The play was set up by first-year Harper Jones, as the team's current leading scorer  passed out her first collegiate assist.

Senior Lily Mohre had the third score, with her first of the season coming in the 57th minute.

Wooster dominated possession, finishing with an 18-3 edge on shots, and junior Carly Eppler recorded two saves while picking up her third win of the year. First-year Maddy Ireton made her collegiate debut in goal, playing the last 15 minutes and change.

Ashley Johnson of Earlham (1-2) had six saves on the day.

Dating back to last season, Wooster's last seven wins have been shutouts.

The Scots face a quick turnaround taking on Saint Vincent College (1-3) on Sunday, at 2 p.m., in the teams' home opener.
