Wooster Turns in Seventh Shutout of Season with 2-0 Blanking of John Carroll

 Sadie Norton
 Lissette Torres

The College of Wooster women's soccer team posted its seventh shutout of the season with a 2-0 blanking of John Carroll University of Tuesday afternoon at Carl Dale Field. Dating back to last season, the College's last 10 wins have all been shutouts.

The Fighting Scots (6-2-1) struck first in the 16th minute when a pair of first-years connected for the third time this season. Harper Jones was able to feed Sadie Norton in the box with the latter pushing her shot attempt past the out-stretched arm of Blue Streak goalkeeper Taylor Tercek. It marked Norton's third goal and Jones' third assist of the year.

Wooster added an insurance goal in the second half when Lissette Torres knocked in her team-leading fourth goal of the year in the 60th minute. The sophomore was able to put in the loose ball in the box after the Scots' corner kick opportunity squirted through to the far side.

John Carroll's (2-5-1) biggest push came in the 69th minute with Wooster goalkeeper Carly Eppler recording two of her five saves.

Norton nearly scored a second goal as time expired in the second half, but Tercek was able to lunge for the stop. She would finish with six saves.

Wooster finished with a 16-10 shot advantage. The Scots had four corner kicks and held the Blue Streaks to zero.

Wooster, ranked eighth in this week's NSCAA Great Lakes Region Poll, returns to the road on Saturday, Sept. 26 to open North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 5 p.m. match at Hiram College
