WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster scored a season-high six goals and its defense held Marietta College without a shot for a 6-0 shutout victory in non-conference women's soccer action at a wet Carl Dale Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Wooster (8-2-1), which moved up three spots to No. 5 in the latest NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Region coaches' poll, dominated possession throughout and the offensive barrage began early when Rachael Davis made a long run into the box from the right side and lifted a well-placed shot into the upper left for a goal in the ninth minute. It was the senior defender's second career score.

The Fighting Scots continued to dictate action and were rewarded again in the 23rd minute when Carly Joliat delivered a free kick into the box that bounced near a wall of teammates and into the back of the net for a 2-0 cushion. Joliat, also a defender, now has two goals this season.

Through one half, Wooster owned a 19-0 advantage in shots, but with just the two finding their mark, Marietta (0-10) was still within striking distance.

That didn't last long, as Scot first-year Devin Frisby struck twice early in the second half. Exactly 7:00 in, she received a pass on the left side from senior Lily Mohre and ricocheted the shot off the inside far post and into the net. In the 59th minute, the first-year forward was fouled in the box and she calmly converted the ensuing penalty kick into the upper right corner for her third goal and a 4-0 lead.

Wooster scored its fifth and sixth goals just 39 seconds apart. Junior defender Liz Kantra, positioned near the top of the box, volleyed a short hop from a Kathleen Kalafatis corner kick through the defense for her first career goal, and moments later, Kalafatis threaded a through ball to Kennedy Payne, who directed it past the 'keeper for the final margin.

The Scots ended up outshooting the Pioneers 42-0 in recording their ninth shutout in 11 matches this fall.

On Saturday, Wooster returns to North Coast Athletic Conference play as it will host Oberlin College (5-3-1, 0-1-0 NCAC) at 12:30 p.m.
