The College of Wooster women's soccer team battled regionally-ranked Case Western Reserve University to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon in Cleveland.

The match was the final non-conference game of the season for the Fighting Scots, who have a pair of key North Coast Athletic Conference matches next week that will have big implications towards the conference tournament seedings. Wooster entered the weekend in fourth-place with nine points, two better than Wittenberg University and four better than Allegheny College - Wooster's next two opponents. Only the top-four teams in the conference standings advance to the tournament.

Wooster (10-5-2) held a 10-6 advantage on shots, and had the two big scoring chances in overtime. In the first extra session, Sadie Norton sailed her shot attempt wide. Goalkeeper Carly Eppler had a free kick after a CWRU (7-4-4) foul stopped by her counterpart Megan Romelfanger.

Carly Joliat nearly slid in a shot in the 16th minute with her attempt clanging off the crossbar. She would send another one off the crossbar in the second half.

Wooster threatened again in the 19th minute when Lauren Hancher's shot was turned aside by Romelfanger.

Eppler held the Spartans in check with three saves on the afternoon.

The shutout was Wooster's 12th of the year.

Wooster hosts Allegheny (4-10-2, 2-2-2 NCAC) at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
