Hancher, a Four-Time Honoree, Leads Wooster's All-NCAC Selections

 Rachael Davis
 Lauren Hancher

The College of Wooster women's soccer team had one of the top defensive units in the conference, and for those efforts four Fighting Scots earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. Senior midfielder Lauren Hancher led the way with first-team honors, while senior defender Rachael Davis earned second-team accolades, and junior goalkeeper Carly Eppler and senior defender Carly Joliat both earned honorable mention status.

Hancher, the 11th Scot to earn four all-NCAC honors on the pitch, earned her second-straight first-team honor. Playing more of a defensive role this year, Hancher helped the Scots' rank 14th nationally in shutout percentage and 36th nationally in goals-against average in matches through Nov. 8. On the offensive end, Hancher contributed two goals and an assist. Overall, it marked the sixth all-conference certificate for the dual-sport standout, having previously earned two all-conference accolades on the hardwood.

Davis collected her third all-conference certificate and second-straight second-team laurel. The four-year starter helped Wooster record 13 shutouts on the year, one shy of tying the single-season school record. On the offensive end, Davis score a goal in the shutout win over Marietta College (Sept. 29).

Joliat earned honorable mention honors for the second time. The left-back played a variety of roles in helping anchor down one of the stingiest defenses in the region, as well as serving as the primary corner- and free-kick specialist. Offensively, Joliat distributed a team-high four assists and scored two goals.

Eppler parlayed her first fully healthy season into her first all-conference certificate. The junior ranks 44th nationally with a .643 goals-against average and 68th nationally with a .842 save percentage in matches prior to the NCAA Div. III National Championship tournament. In fact, thanks to efforts by Eppler and the defense, only one of Wooster's first seven opponents this year scored a goal.
