WOOSTER, Ohio – With an abundance of shot opportunities and significant control of possession throughout the game, The College of Wooster's women's soccer team followed up yesterday's double overtime draw with plenty of offensive energy as the Scots defeated Earlham College 2-0 at Carl Dale Field on Sunday.

The Scots (2-3-1) tallied 44 total shots on the day, with 23 of them coming on frame.

First-year midfielder Claire Davis led the team in shots on goal with eight, followed by three from senior Kathleen Kalafatis.

After a scoreless first 41 minutes of play, Wooster got on the board in the 42nd with a well-placed header from first-year Krenare Rakoci for her first collegiate career goal.

Kalafatis delivered the ball out wide into the right corner, leading teammate Kennedy Payne who lofted it into the box and onto the head of Rakoci as she finished to give the Scots a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, the Scots picked up where they left off, pressing high with strong possession among the midfield and backline.

In the 72nd minute, a defensive clearance from Earlham fell short, failing to clear the 18-yard box. Davis sprinted ahead, beating the defender to the ball and put away the miscue for the Scots' second goal of the game and her first collegiate career goal.

Twenty-five of Wooster's 44 total shots came in the second half, as well as seven of the Scots' eight corner kicks.

Earlham (0-3-0) earned one shot on goal after Wooster goalkeeper Maddy Ireton safely handled an attempt from 20 yards out for her only save of the day.

The Scots are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Heidelberg University (2-1-2) for a 5 p.m. start.
