WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's soccer team earned three crucial points in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 2-1 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday afternoon at Carl Dale Field.

With the win, Wooster (5-7-4, 2-1-3 NCAC) remains unbeaten in its last eight outings at Carl Dale Field (6-0-2) dating back to the 2015 season, while the Scots have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven home matches.

Sophomore Caroline Dres tallied her fourth goal of the season with a close-range finish in the 11th minute to give the Fighting Scots an early 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Emma Lawrence did well to serve a lofting ball from near midfield over the backline of Ohio Wesleyan (4-10-0, 1-3-0 NCAC) and into the 18-yard-box, as Dres timed her run well to convert on the through ball.

Notable, Dres' goal marked the Scots' first lead in a game since the 32nd minute against Muskingum University on Sept. 27.

The Battling Bishops drew level in the 34th minute after a Wooster defensive clearance found the feet of Ohio Wesleyan midfielder Alyssa Giarrusso, who one-timed the rolling clearance from nearly 40 yards out to equalize at one.

The Scots outshot Ohio Wesleyan 8-2 as the score remained 1-1 entering the halftime break.

Throughout the second half, Wooster continued to control a majority of the offensive opportunities. The breakthrough came in the 80th minute when sophomore Harper Jones pressured high to win the ball and put it past Bishop goalkeeper Mackenzie Brunke for her third of the season.

First-year Claire Davis nearly made it 3-1 in the closing stages when her far-post curler from the right side of the box hit the woodwork and deflected out of danger.

Neither team presented any major scoring chances for the remainder of the game.

Wooster outshot Ohio Wesleyan 16-2, including 8-0 in the second half, while earning a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Carly Eppler finished with one save.

Young talent continues to shine for the Scots this year as three sophomores have scored at least three goals on the season, including Dres who leads Wooster with four, while nine Scots have made the scoring column.

Dres paces the Scots with a team-high eight points.

Wooster returns to action this weekend as they prepare to host Case Western Reserve University (5-5-4, 0-2-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference) at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
