Scots Women's Soccer Earns Eighth Consecutive National Team Academic Award

The College of Wooster women's soccer team earned its eighth-consecutive United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for its outstanding performance in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year, the Kansas City, Mo. organization announced on Thursday.

Designed to bring attention to teams' accomplishments beyond the field, Wooster was one of 531 women's soccer programs to receive the award. To qualify, the team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year.

Since the award was instituted in 1996, Wooster has been named to the annual list 12 times. This year, the Fighting Scots were one of only three North Coast Athletic Conference schools to be honored on the women's side, and one of two to have both the men's and women's program's nominated.

Individually, six Wooster student-athletes were named to last year's NCAC Honor Roll, including returnees Devin Frisby, Maddy Ireton and Rada Zunich. Wooster's collective team GPA was 3.40.
