Commanding Second-Half Lifts Kenyon Over Scots 2-0

WOOSTER, Ohio – Back-to-back unassisted goals from Kenyon College's Caroline McNeer and Campbell Fee lifted the Ladies of Gambier to a 2-0 victory over The College of Wooster women's soccer team on Tuesday afternoon at Carl Dale Memorial Field.

Sophomore Anna Hartig looks to distribute the ball from the backfield during Wooster's game against Kenyon.

The loss marks Wooster's (5-6-2, 2-2-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) first home conference loss of the season.

The Ladies (4-6-2, 2-0-1 NCAC) nearly got on the board in the 11th minute after Fee witnessed her first of six total shots hit the crossbar.

However, it was Wooster who held the shot advantage during the opening 45 minutes by an 8-5 count.

Come the second half, the tables turned in favor of the Ladies, who totaled 16 shots in the final 45 minutes compared to just three from the Fighting Scots.

In the 56th minute, McNeer corralled a corner clearance from Wooster's Kylie Hawkins near the right side of the 18-yard box before placing a shot over goalkeeper Maddy Ireton and skimming the underside of the crossbar and in for the game-winner.

Two minutes later, Fee connected from 25-yards out after a defensive clearance to put the Ladies up 2-0.

Ireton kept the game intact with two impressive saves, both off the foot of Kenyon's Samantha Hayes, in the 59th and 61st minutes.

First-year Mila Zunich and junior Erica White fired shots off in the 71st and 75th minutes, respectively, with both going wide of the frame.

The Ladies managed to limit any Scot offensive threat with offensive pressure of their own, managing five shots in the last seven minutes of play.

Up next, Wooster hots Oberlin College (7-2-2, 0-2-1 NCAC) on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. at Carl Dale Memorial Field.
