Rakoci's Game-Winning Performance Garners NCAC Player-of-the-Week Nod

Krenare Rakoci

Sophomore Krenare Rakoci's brace in Wooster's 2-0 win over Allegheny on Oct. 24 led to her first career North Coast Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week honor, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Unbeknownst at the time, Rakoci's performance sealed Wooster's first NCAC Tournament bid since 2012, as the Fighting Scots (7-7-3, 4-3-1 NCAC), bearers of a bye on Saturday, had to watch their tournament hopes unfolded from the sideline during the decisive weekend. Kenyon College's 2-0 victory on Saturday over the Gators sealed Wooster's spot, as the fourth-seeded Scots travel to top-seeded Kenyon on Tuesday, Oct. 31 for a 2 p.m. matchup in Gambier, Ohio.

Looking back at the Allegheny victory, Rakoci tallied the game-winner in the 17th minute off a rebound opportunity. The insurance tally came in the 71st with a lofting chip over the 'keeper from 25 yards out.

Rakoci is the second Scot to earn the weekly award this season.
