Wooster Places Six on Academic All-District® Team

Wooster's Academic All-District Honorees 2022 CSC Academic All-District® Soccer Release

Sophomore Bailey Farrell, senior Teddi Farson, sophomore Lily Glaza, senior Helena Janczak, sophomore Emma Jaros, and junior Naomi Mann were among the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® honorees, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Farrell, one of the team's top reserves, entered 14 contests this fall, and finished with three goals and an assist. The biology major had a strong start to the year with a goal in the season-opener against Marietta College. Farrell has 34 career appearances, two of which are starts.

Off the pitch, Farrell is a certified EMT responder for Lifecare Hospice in Wooster. There, she provides safe and comfortable rides for patients to receive healthcare and evaluates health conditions. The sophomore is a health coach through the College's partnership with Wooster Community Hospital. Through that program, Farrell visits patients for wellness checks. On campus, she is a residential assistant and works with admissions as a tour guide.

Farson, a two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection, earned first-team honors this fall after ranking fourth in the league with 14 points. The 2021 NCAC Newcomer of the Year was second league-wide in her debut season with 26 points en route to helping the program make its third consecutive appearance in the NCAC Tournament championship contest.

The neuroscience major, who is in the process of applying to physician assistant school, is researching the effects biological sex has on heart rate recovery in NCAA Div. III student-athletes for her Independent Study. Farson's also part of the Wooster Community Hospital Health Coach Program, and is in Wooster's chapter of Nu Rho Psi, a national honor society for neuroscience.

Glaza, a two-year starter at right back, has been part of 11 shutouts during her career. The statistical and data sciences major earned her first collegiate point with an assist on the game-winning goal of Wooster's 3-2 victory over Wilmington College on September 17, 2022.

The mathematics' tutor is a statistics spotter for Wooster's varsity basketball and lacrosse teams and is a student grader for courses within her major on campus.

Janczak, a two-year starter, was part of Wooster's 2019 team, which advanced to the second round of the NCAA Div. III Championships, marking the program's top postseason finish. The defender who has three career goals, played on teams that won 31 contests in three competing seasons.

The environmental studies major developed and led sustainability and environmental education projects at the Umbra Institute in Perugia, Italy this summer. Her Independent Study looks at effects of distance from supermarkets in Chicago on heart disease. After graduation, Janczak is looking to teach English in Poland through the Fulbright Program.

Jaros, who debuted on the all-conference team this fall, is a two-year key contributor in the program. The first-year starter's six goals ranked third in the NCAC and was the second-highest total on Wooster's team. The biology major scored Wooster's goal in a 1-1 draw with Kenyon College and was one of three Scots to find the back of the net in a one-goal win over Wilmington.

Mann earned honorable mention All-NCAC honors as a sophomore after scoring two goals and passing out three assists in a year in which the Scots made the NCAC Tournament final for the third straight time. The two-year starter scored a career-high three goals and passed out three more assists this fall, while starting in all 17 contests.

The political science major interned with Paganelli Law Group in Indianapolis, Indiana, this summer, where she assisted paralegals with organizing trial preparation work. Mann was part of Wooster's nationally-prominent Moot Court Team, and she is currently a tour guide for admissions.

All six of Wooster's Academic All-District® honorees are on the Academic All-America® ballot, which is voted on by CSC members, and will be announced on Tuesday, December 6. Starting with the 2022-23 academic year, all eligible nominees submitted by member schools earn Academic All-District® status. Nominees were voted to the Academic All-District® Team in previous years and those winners advanced to the Academic All-America® ballot. Wooster's women's soccer team has seven all-time Academic All-America® selections, the most of any women's sport at the College.
