The College of Wooster's women's tennis team was right there with Walsh University, an NCAA Div. II school, in several matches, but ultimately, none went to the Fighting Scots, as the Cavaliers came away with a 9-0 victory Wednesday at the Scot Center courts.

Rachel Molé and Catherine Christian let it be known early on that Wooster (3-6) wasn't going down easy, as the duo pushed Walsh (18-7) to the brink in a narrow 8-6 setback at No. 1 doubles.

Also competitive in doubles action was the No. 3 pairing of Kimberly Carter and Laura Kummer, who lost 8-4. That solid performance carried over for Kummer, with Walsh needing a tiebreaker set to prevail against her at No. 6 singles.

Wooster was also in the mix at the first, second, and third spots in the singles lineup, with Molé (6-3, 6-2), Christian (6-4, 6-2), and Rose Chiumento (6-3, 6-2) each taking about half the games in their respective match-ups.

Next, the Scots begin the North Coast Athletic Conference portion of their schedule when they host Ohio Wesleyan University (4-7) as part of Family Weekend this Saturday at 1 p.m.
