Taking on a regionally-ranked opponent in its North Coast Athletic Conference East Division opener, The College of Wooster women's tennis team scored one point and was competitive in several matches, however, Oberlin College ultimately prevailed 8-1 on Wednesday at Oberlin, Ohio.

Rachel Molé and Catherine Christian of Wooster (5-8, 0-1 NCAC East) picked up a couple games before dropping an 8-2 decision against the No. 20 ranked doubles team in the NCAA Div. III Central Region, and the team of Kimberly Carter and Laura Kummer tallied three games at the third position (8-3). Still, Oberlin (7-8, 1-0 NCAC), ranked No. 10 as a team in the Central Region, opened up a 3-0 lead in doubles.

Kummer accounted for the Fighting Scots point at No. 5 singles, where she won in straight sets (6-4, 7-5). Molé and Christian both faced regionally-ranked singles opponents at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, with Christian nearly pushing her foe to a second set (6-1, 6-4).

Wooster continues its very challenging schedule on Thursday afternoon when it visits nationally-ranked Denison University (6-7).
