The College of Wooster women's tennis team continued its improvement on the court while maintaining its excellence in the classroom, as the Fighting Scots were named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the fifth straight year, while six individuals earned Scholar-Athlete recognition, the organization announced Thursday.
Wooster is one of just three North Coast Athletic Conference schools to garner the award this year, which requires a team to achieve at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average.
In addition, Rachel Appleton, Catherine Boyles, Elizabeth Brewington, Kimberly Carter, Melanie Chin, and Rachel Molé were each made ITA Scholar-Athletes (3.50 GPA and up), giving Wooster the most individual honorees of any NCAC institution.
The Scots took another step forward in 2013-14 under third-year head coach Amy Behrman, as they tied for fifth-place at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships – their highest finish since 2003. Another highlight was the play of Scholar-Athlete recipient Molé, who was voted NCAC Newcomer of the Year.
