For the second consecutive year, The College of Wooster's Rachel Molé won a first-round match at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Div. III Central Region Championships, hosted at Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich., and she nearly advanced to the third round, highlighting results from the three Wooster players who competed there.

Molé, a sophomore, cruised to a 6-0, 6-4 victory over an opponent from Lake Forest College during Friday's opener, then faced off against a fellow North Coast Athletic Conference member, Adrienne D'Alewyn of Ohio Wesleyan University. The two played a marathon match, spending about three and one-half hours on the court, as they split two close sets and extended each other all the way to a tiebreaker in the third set before D'Alewyn emerged with the 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) triumph.

Additionally, Wooster junior Rose Chiumento and first-year Morgan Wagers gained valuable experience against some of the top players in the region in both singles and as doubles partners. After falling 8-1 to the No. 12 seeds, Chiumento and Wagers won four games (4-8) against a strong pairing from Denison University.

The Fighting Scots will now begin the traditional dual-match portion of the season with a visit to the University of Mount Union on Sept. 26.
