The College of Wooster showed improvement compared to its last meeting with Denison University, with much more competitive results this time around, but ultimately, the Fighting Scots were done in by the No. 30 ranked Big Red, 9-0, on Monday at the D.J. Hard Memorial Courts.

The Scots (2-9) won just 12 games in last season's match-up with the Big Red (7-2), but they more than doubled that production by winning 27 games today.

Sophomore Rachel Molé was a key factor in the team's improved effort, as she took six games from her opponent at No. 2 singles in a 6-3, 6-3 setback, and then at No. 1 doubles, she teamed with Catherine Christian in a closely-contested 8-5 loss.

Wooster's other doubles pairings were solid as well, with No. 3's Melanie Chin and Morgan Wagers winning four games, and Elizabeth Brewington and Catherine Boyles capturing three games at the second-spot in the lineup.

Next up, the Scots will host rival Wittenberg University (1-5) on Thursday at 4 p.m.
