The College of Wooster's women's tennis team broke even on Saturday, as it came up short in an early match against host Ohio Wesleyan University, 7-2, but later notched a convincing 6-3 victory over Adrian College, to split its tri-match at the Gordon Field House in Delaware, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots (4-10) took two matches against the Battling Bishops (5-8), as No. 1 doubles pairing Catherine Christian and Rachel Molé won 8-6, while in singles, Rose Chiumento was victorious 6-4, 6-1 at the third-spot in the lineup.

There were some other match-ups that nearly went Wooster's way, including at No. 3 doubles, where Catherine Boyles and Elizabeth Brewington came up just short, 9-8 (7-4), and at six-singles, with Bonnie Salmeron being edged 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9).

There was an interesting twist in Wooster's win against Adrian, as it not only swept all three doubles matches to go up 3-0, but it did so while using three teams that had never paired together before.

Christian and Morgan Wagers joined forces and cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 1, while Boyles/Molé and Brewington/Melanie Chin came out on top of more competitive matches at the second and third spots, respectively.

Molé highlighted the singles results against Adrian with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 performance at No. 2, while Christian eased past her opponent 6-1, 6-1 in the battle of 1's. Salmeron also picked up a win, 6-2, 6-4, against her adversary at No. 5.

Three of Wooster's next four matches will be against opponents from within the North Coast Athletic Conference East Division, beginning at home with Oberlin College (7-9) on Wednesday at 4:30.
