The College of Wooster women's tennis team blanked rival Wittenberg University, 5-0, in the seventh-place match of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday morning at Granville, Ohio.

With their opening round setback to nationally-ranked Oberlin College on Friday, the Fighting Scots (7-14) lost their chance to outperform their seed (seventh), but that didn't prevent them from overwhelming the Tigers (1-13) to solidify their place in the standings.

Wooster, which swept Wittenberg by a 9-0 count in their regular season meeting, was even more dominant this time around, as it yielded just two games in the five matches that played out to completion.

Senior Melanie Chin led the Scots to two wins and was perfect doing so. First, she teamed with Catherine Boyles for an 8-0 triumph at No. 2 doubles, and then prevailed in singles competition, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the fourth spot.

Also flawless in singles competition was Rachel Molé, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 in the lineup. Molé nearly made it a clean sweep, in terms of games, but her and doubles teammate Catherine Christian did surrender one in an 8-1 trouncing at the top of the order.

Finally, the first time pairing of Elizabeth Brewington and Kate Connors had an outstanding debut, as they took down their opponents at No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
