Scots Drop Non-Conference Tilt Against Regionally-Ranked John Carroll

 Dora Mase

The College of Wooster women's tennis team continued its rigorous non-conference slate, falling by a 9-0 count to regionally-ranked John Carroll University on Friday evening at Streetsboro, Ohio.

Wooster (1-5) had a strong showing from Morgan Wagers in the second singles flight. Wagers won the opening set 6-3, but ultimately came up short dropping the next two sets to the Blue Streaks' (4-2) Nicolette Bourlas 4-6, 1-10.

Also noteworthy was Rachel Molé's efforts at No. 1 singles. The junior won a pair of games off of nationally-ranked Lauren O'Malley in the first set before dropping a 6-2, 6-0 match.

In doubles play, Dora Mase and Aditi Sringeri teamed up for the first time this spring, and took two games at the third-spot.

Of note, the Scots have played a regionally-ranked opponent in two of their last three matches.

Wooster plays its next six matches in Orlando, beginning with an 8 a.m. tilt against Calvin College (2-2) on Wednesday, March 16.
