The College of Wooster women's tennis team was right there in several closely-contested first sets, but ultimately the matches swung the other way as host Allegheny College topped the Fighting Scots 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at Meadville, Pa.

Wooster (3-15, 0-3 North Coast Athletic Conference East Division) earned its point in the early-going as Rachel Molé and Elizabeth Brewington won at No. 1 doubles by an 8-5 count.

Later, Aditi Sringeri opened her singles match with a 6-3 win in the first set, and was right there in a back-and-forth tiebreaker before succumbing in the final two sets 6-1, 1-0 (10-8).

Wooster had success early on in singles play with Molé winning five games in her first set. Anne Sophie Haanen and Katie Kuzmishin also were right there in the early going winning four and three games respectively in the first set at the fifth and fourth positions.

Allegheny improved to 4-10, 1-1 NCAC East Division with the win.

Next, Wooster travels to Baldwin Wallace (10-8) for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference tilt on Monday.
