Sertz Lands First Career NCAC Player-of-the-Week Nod

Shannon Sertz

The College of Wooster women's tennis first-year Shannon Sertz was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week for her undefeated performance last week, per an annoucement from the league office on Monday afternoon. The first-year went 4-0 on the week as Wooster topped Concordia University (Wis.), 5-4, before defeating Webster University, 7-2, during the first week of the program's spring trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Sertz went 2-0 at No. 3 doubles along with partner Dora Mase and matched that with a 2-0 record at the No. 5 singles spot. With the team score tied at four against Concordia, Sertz came through in the decisive match with a two-set victory, 6-1, 7-6 (5), to clinch the win after a hard fought 9-7 win in doubles action.

Against Webster, the first-year cruised to an 8-3 win in doubles before again pulling through in a second-set tiebreaker as part of the last match remaining, this time 6-1, 7-6 (8).
