Brewington, Li Continue to Roll at No. 2 Doubles for Wooster

Junior Morgan Wagers and partner Rachel Molé were right there in No. 1 doubles, but the match swung in favor of the Big Red 8-6.

Senior Elizabeth Brewington and first-year Joy Li extended their doubles' win streak out to six, but The College of Wooster women's tennis team fell 8-1 to 29th-ranked Denison University on Wednesday afternoon at the D.J. Hard Tennis Courts in Wooster, Ohio.

Brewington and Li captured an 8-6 win out of the second flight over Ashley Hammons and Megan Hickey, and the duo has not lost a doubles' match in the month of March while outscoring their opponents 48-21 during the current six-match win streak. Notable, Wooster's (5-5) win at No. 2 doubles marked the first team point against Denison (4-6) since the Big Red topped the Fighting Scots 6-3 on April 3, 2001. The two programs have met at least once annual every year but two since then.

Wooster nearly carried a lead into singles, but Denison's regionally-ranked doubles' duo of Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup ultimately swung the top flight match in their favor 8-6 against senior Rachel Molé and junior Morgan Wagers.

Wooster's singles play was headlined by first-year Shannon Sertz who won a quartet of games out of the fourth flight.

Next, Wooster hosts Wittenberg (5-9) on Friday at 6:30 p.m., with the match already shifting indoors to the Scot Center in anticipation of the weather forecast.
