The College of Wooster women's tennis team defeated rival Wittenberg University 5-0 in the seventh-place match of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Olympic Indoor Tennis Club in Columbus, Ohio.

The victory marked the second consecutive year in which the Fighting Scots (9-9, 0-3 NCAC East) defeated the Tigers (5-17, 0-3 NCAC West) in the league tournament's seventh-place match. In addition, with the win, Wooster finished at .500 for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign while recording the most wins in a season since the 2012-13 season.

In Friday's quarterfinal match against No. 34 Kenyon College (11-9, 3-0 NCAC East), the Ladies took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by identical 8-1 scores before winning 8-3 at No. 3. In singles, senior Elizabeth Brewington (0-6, 1-6) and first-year Mali Zemedkun (0-6, 1-6) fell at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, as Kenyon advanced to the semifinals and Wooster relegated to the seventh-place match against Wittenberg.

On Saturday against Witt, the Scots flipped the scoresheet en route to their second win of the season over the Tigers and eighth victory in their last nine match-ups.

In doubles action, first-years Shannon Sertz and Zemedkun won 8-3 at No. 3, followed by Brewington and first-year Joy Li by the same count at No. 2. In the top spot, senior Rachel Molé and junior Morgan Wagers prevailed 8-4.

With the win, Molé set a new program record for all-time wins at No. 1 doubles with 37, surpassing 1989 alumna Jennifer Lister's previous mark of 36. Additionally, the standout senior solidified her third-place standing in career doubles wins with 46.

In singles, Molé was the first to shake hands after winning 6-1, 6-3 over Sarah Gallup at the No. 2 position, while Wagers clinched the team win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3.

Notable, Molé's singles victory moved her into third-place all-time in combined wins (singles and doubles) with 86. On top of that, the singles win marked the 40th of her career and the eighth-most in program history.

Wooster has finished seventh or better in the conference tournament for five straight seasons.
