Women's Tennis Receives ITA Grant as Part of Community Service Month

ITA Release

The College of Wooster women's tennis team won a $500 grant from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for its participation and charitable contributions in the inaugural ITA Community Service Month, as announced by the organization late last month.

During the month of October, the team collected donated clothing on behalf of hurricane relief efforts. In addition, members of the team volunteered at Parkview Elementary School in Wooster, Ohio as part of the school's Fall Festival.

ITA Community Service Month was created to spotlight the volunteer work ITA member coaches and student-athletes do on an annual basis, with more than 2,000 student-athletes serving over 8,000 total hours of service in their community or on their campus.

All teams which performed 20-plus hours of community service were entered into a drawing for a $500 ITA grant, with Wooster taking home the prize.

Additionally, the team hosted a meet-and-greet for local tennis players of all ages and will put on an additional community tennis event in the spring.
