The College of Wooster women's tennis team extended its winning streak to eight with an 8-1 victory over Hollins University, as the Fighting Scots wrapped up their spring break slate at Hilton Head Island, S.C. on Tuesday afternoon. 

Prior to Tuesday's win, the Scots defeated Carroll (Wis.) University, 8-1, on Monday and defeated Indiana University-East, 6-1, on Friday.

Notably, at 10-1, the Scots matched the 1976 team for the best 11-match start in program history.

Against Hollins (2-5), the Scots took two of three doubles flights before sweeping singles action. Sophomore Joy Li and senior Morgan Wagers won their third in a row at No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 sweep to move to 9-2 in dual matches this season.

At No. 2, sophomore Shannon Sertz and first-year Laura Haley won 8-5 while first-year Kendra Devereux and sophomore Mali Zemedkun fell 9-8 (2) at No. 3.

In singles, Li remained perfect on the year at No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-1 win, marking her 11th straight. Li is two wins short of cracking into the program's top-six for most wins in a season at No. 1, with the current record of 19 held by W Association Hall of Fame member Kirsten Patton '88. Additionally, with 15 career wins at No. 1, Li sits tied with 2016 alumna Catherine Christian for the sixth-most career wins at No.1 and is four victories shy of sole possession of fifth place.

Continuing with singles play against Hollins, first-year Sarah Duran and Sertz did not drop a set in respective wins at No. 2 and No. 3, while Haley and Zemedkun both won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Devereux dropped the Scots' only set of the match, falling 2-6 in the second after a 6-4 first-set win before coming out on top, 10-6, in the third-set super tiebreaker.

On the year, Wooster's top four singles flights all have an 8-2 record of better, while Haley and Zemedkun are both 6-2 at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Yesterday against Carroll (6-6), the Scots swept singles play, all in straight sets. In doubles, Sertz and Haley fell 8-7 (5) at No. 2 doubles for Carroll's only point.

Against IU-East (7-4), the Scots won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and swept No. 1-4 singles before ending the match early.

Over the last three matches, Wooster has won all 18 singles matches, with only one going to a third-set super tiebreaker (Sertz vs. IU-East).
