WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's tennis team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University 7-2 on Saturday afternoon as part of "Family Weekend" to improve to 15-3 overall on the year, marking the program's second-highest all-time win total and just one victory shy of the 1996-97 team's record-setting mark of 16.

The Fighting Scots (15-3, 1-2 North Coast Athletic Conference East Division) wrapped up their regular season schedule by taking two of three doubles matches and five of six in singles play.

At the top flight, sophomore Joy Li, whose record-setting streak of 16 consecutive wins at No. 1 singles came to an end last week versus nationally-ranked Kenyon College, continued to etch her name alongside some the program great with a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 win over Lauren Corcoran at No. 1. The victory marked Li's 19 overall singles win of the season, leaving her tied for second all-time for most single-season singles wins, while her 17-1 record at No. 1 ranks tied for third all-time with W Association Hall of Famer Kirsten Patton ('88).

Continuing with singles action, first-year Sarah Duran pulled out a three-set thriller in 7-6 (5), 5-7, 1-0 (5) fashion to improve to 14-4 at No. 2 singles this year and stand tied for second all-time in single-season wins at the position and just two back of tying the all-time record.

Down one position at No. 3 was sophomore Shannon Sertz, who also improved to 14-4 on the year with a 6-2, 6-3 win to make a claim for the third-most wins at the third flight in a season. First-year Laura Haley pulled out a three-set comeback win after dropping the first set, 4-6, before winning the second set, 6-4, and the third-set super tiebreaker, 10-3.

In doubles play, Li and Wagers partnered up for a straightforward 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, marking Wagers' 24 career No. 1 doubles win, a total good for seventh all-time in program history, while Sertz and Haley rounded out Wooster's doubles wins with an 8-5 victory at No. 2.
