The College of Wooster women's tennis team's historic season wrapped up on Saturday, and the Fighting Scots finished the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships in sixth-place after being upended by Ohio Wesleyan University 6-2 in the fifth-place match at Wynne Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Ind.

Wooster (15-5), which finished tied for the second-most wins in a single season in program history, led 2-1 after doubles, but Ohio Wesleyan (11-6) rebounded to win four singles matches and avenge a loss to the Scots a week ago.

Sophomore Joy Li and senior Morgan Wagers won a thriller at No. 1 doubles 9-8 (5) for their 17th win of the year, 15 of which came in doubles play.

Sophomore Shannon Sertz and first-year Laura Haley prevailed at No. 2 doubles 8-6 to give the Scots the lead heading into singles play.

In the third flight, first-years Sarah Duran and Kendra Deveruex were upended by Lauren Corcoran and Meryl Reams 8-3.

Li, who topped Corcoran 6-2, 6-2 a week ago, dropped the rematch against the Battling Bishops' junior 2-6, 6-2, 6-0. Li ended her sophomore year with 19 singles wins, a total tied for the second-most in program history and the top mark since W Association Hall of Famer Kirsten Patton had that many in 1988.

Sophomore Mali Zemedkun took the first set of her match at No. 6 singles 7-5, but the outcome ultimately shifted the other direction with Diamond Person taking the final two sets 6-1, 6-2.

Haley pushed Reams in the first set and won four games before going on and dropping the second set 6-2.

Duran and Wagers fell 6-1, 6-0 at Nos. 2 and 4 respectively.
