The College of Wooster women's tennis team, which is coming off a 15-win season, wasted no time in clinching its first win of the 2018-19 campaign, as the Fighting Scots rolled past visiting Muskingum University 8-1 on Friday evening at the D.J. Hard Tennis Courts in Wooster, Ohio.

The match, which wrapped up the team's fall portion of the schedule and marked the Scots' lone dual of the fall, got off to a roaring start, as Wooster didn't drop a game in doubles. First-year Emma Saxton and junior Mahlet Zemedkun picked up Wooster's first point of the afternoon out of the third flight. The duo's 8-0 score was matched by sophomore Sarah Duran and junior Shannon Sertz at No. 1 and by sophomore Laura Haley and first-year Meklit Minassie at No. 2.

In singles, Sertz clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 in what marked the junior's first career match at that flight.

Prior to Sertz officially clinching the win, Saxton's run of not dropping a game carried over to singles where the rookie debuted in dual play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5. After the match was clinched, sophomore Kendra Devereux and Minassie matched Saxton's scoreline in the fourth and third flights, respectively.

Haley rounded out the singles winners with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 2.

Wooster's spring slate will commence in mid-February.
