Women Collect First Win in Tight Match with John Carroll

The College of Wooster women's tennis team picked up their first win after a tight 5-4 win over John Carroll University on Friday. 

Otilia Oita and Janaki Jagannathan led the way for the Scots. They gave Wooster its lone doubles point as they paired to win the No. 1 flight, 8-2.

Later, Oita took care of her opponent in the No. 1 flight with a 6-2, 7-6 (2) win, while Jagannathan won in three sets in the No. 2 flight 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (8).

Wooster's other two wins came in the No. 3 and No. 5 flights. Abby Williams took a 6-4, 6-0 win in the No. 3 flight, and Lauren Richmond came back for the 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (9) win at No. 5.

Abby Aitken fell 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 4 flight, while Margaret Steward lost 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 flight.

In Wooster's other doubles flights, John Carroll (0-1) came out on top. Aitken and Richmond fell 8-2 in the No. 2 flight, and Steward and Williams took an 8-4 loss at No. 3. 

The Scots (1-1) will hit the road for their next match when they travel to Case Western Reserve University on Friday.
